Abstract

Autism spectrum is a pervasive developmental disorder that affects a person’s behaviours to varying degrees throughout
everyday life. Atypical socio-communicative and behavioural symptoms manifested during interactions may prevent the individual from engaging in reciprocal and effective dialogue. The research aimed to examine the healthcare experiences of families with children with autism, with a focus on household expenditure, and their perceptions of healthcare and to
summarise the options. It was assumed that families with more severe spectrum conditions would have higher expenditure
and lower motivation from relatives, as well as lower confidence in achieving their goals.
